Antes de hacer mención de los elementos partamos primero de saber que se busca representar con las artes escénicas. Así debemos conocer primero que es lo obsceno y que es lo escénico; «Lo obsceno es aquello inmoral, para muchos lo grosero, aquello que no se muestra, todo lo que se oculta» y «lo escénico es la revelación es decir mostrar lo oculto», así podemos decir que «las artes escénicas buscan representar lo obsceno, lo invisible que se vuelve visible, lo pagano, lo sagrado, lo prohibido incluyendo la realidad».
Así como las artes plásticas están conformadas por ciertos elementos, las artes escénicas también tienen los suyos, además de los ya mencionados en las artes plásticas que también se pueden encontrar en las artes escénicas incluiremos los siguientes: EL MYTHOS ( la acción), DIANOIA( idea o pensamiento), LEXIS( la palabra dicha o escrita), ETHI( personaje), MELOPEIA (la música) y OPSIS (el show).
